OVERVIEW

Peats Zeo Compost is not acidic. It is marginally alkaline and its use with fertilisers can help buffer soil pH levels thus reducing the need for lime applications.

Peats Zeo Compost is the perfect planting partner as it is a natural wetting agent and a water retainer as well as a fertiliser magnet. It helps water penetrate sandy non- wettable soils and will evenly distribute throughout the soil.

Description

Every application increases the cation exchange capacity of the soil and the capillary water holding in the root zone. Peats Zeo Compost works like a fertiliser battery, attracting ammonium, potassium, calcium and magnesium cations and holding them with an electric Charge until actively taken up by the plant root. The cations cannot be leached out and are only released to plant roots which harvest the zeolite by active up take. Peats Zeo Compost attracts and retains ammonium, potassium, calcium & magnesium as well as many trace elements. It has the greatest affinity for ammonium and potassium but when a plant is taking up the ammonium or potassium off the zeolite, the zeolite attracts calcium from phosphorus when rock phosphate is applied in soil to balance the zeolites negative charge. This helps release available phosphorus. Peats Zeo Compost prevents free nutrients from leaching. It soaks up excess ammonium is often released under hot conditions, preventing root burning. Zeolite has internally porous atomic structure that provides a very open framework with a network of pores giving it a large surface area (up to 450m /g) and high porosity (up to 45%) for trapping and exchanging valuable cations, water and other molecules without any change in structure. Zeolite is an amazing natural mineral thanks to its extraordinary ability to absorb, hold, release, and exchange different chemicals, nutrients, toxins and ions according to need. It is a robust, insoluble and chemically stable natural mineral and can be used as an organic agricultural and horticultural input.

KEY BENEFITS:

  • better plant growth,
  • improves the efficiency and value of fertilizers,
  • improves water infiltration and retention,
  • improves yield by retaining nutrients for use by the plants,
  • improves long term soil quality and reduces loss of nutrients in soil.
